Background Screening Eligibility Standards
Dolphins Flag Football League appreciates the commitment of our volunteer coaches and staff. These requirements help us maintain a safe, respectful, and positive experience for every athlete and family in our program.
An individual may be deemed ineligible to serve as a coach, volunteer, or team staff member based on information discovered through the background screening process or other verified sources.
Screening decisions are based on NFL FLAG safety standards and may include the following automatic and potential disqualifying offenses.

An individual may be automatically disqualified if a background search reveals a conviction, guilty plea, no contest plea, deferred adjudication, or qualifying charge involving:
Felony Offenses
Misdemeanor Offenses
Additional automatic disqualifiers may include multiple alcohol- or drug-related offenses within the previous three years.
Eligibility periods are calculated based on the offense disposition date.

Murder or homicide
Violent sex crimes, including rape or sexual assault
Sex crimes involving minors
Child abuse, neglect, or endangerment
Violent crimes involving weapons
Animal abuse
Drug-related crimes involving distribution, manufacturing, trafficking, intent to distribute, or sale within the previous seven years

Violent sex crimes
Sex crimes involving minors
Child abuse, neglect, or endangerment
Drug possession or use within the previous three years
Drug-related crimes involving distribution, manufacturing, trafficking, intent to distribute, or sale within the previous seven years

Additional offenses may result in review and possible disqualification, including:
Non-violent sex crimes
Crimes involving violence against another person
Felony offenses within the previous 10 years
Certain misdemeanor offenses involving violence within the previous five years
Animal abuse within the previous six years
Financial crimes, including fraud, forgery, or embezzlement within the previous six years
Multiple alcohol- or drug-related offenses
Multiple felony or misdemeanor offenses

Violations or charges related to the NFL FLAG Coach Code of Conduct
Violations of NFL FLAG rules, policies, or procedures
Civil judgments involving sexual or physical abuse
Court orders related to sexual or physical abuse
Termination of parental rights
Prior history of complaints involving sexual or physical abuse with another organization
Resignation, termination, or removal from a paid or volunteer position due to allegations of sexual or physical abuse
